The TLS Canon Rangefinder Storyteller Set has been devised as a more compact alternative to our larger Canon Rangefinder sets, offering an ideal starting point for filmmakers looking to explore the distinctive character of these iconic vintage lenses before expanding into a larger set.

With three carefully selected focal lengths — 35mm, 50mm and 85mm — the set provides a versatile foundation for independent filmmakers, commercials, music videos, short-form productions and smaller-scale narrative work, where portability, versatility and budget are important considerations.

At the heart of the set is the legendary 50mm f/0.95 ‘Dream Lens’ — one of the most recognisable vintage lenses ever produced. Its single-coated optics create a distinctive combination of glowing highlights, amber-tinted flare, low contrast and beautifully creamy bokeh, delivering an unmistakably expressive image.

The 35mm and 85mm complement the 50mm perfectly, extending the set into wider and more intimate perspectives while maintaining a cohesive visual character across all three focal lengths.

Together, the lenses produce a distinctive vintage image with strong, expressive flare, lower contrast and beautiful highlight behaviour, while retaining a pleasing level of central sharpness. The image gradually softens towards the edges, with more pronounced edge characteristics from the wider 35mm.

The result is an organic and atmospheric image that responds beautifully to both natural and direct light. Flare becomes part of the image rather than something to be corrected, while highlights can glow and skin tones take on a softer, more evocative quality.
