A classic vintage look, built for modern cinematography.

The TLS Canon FD SSC Core Set brings together five versatile focal lengths from the much-loved Canon FD range: 20mm, 24mm, 35mm, 55mm and 85mm.

Originally designed as stills lenses in the 1970s and 1980s, Canon FD SSC glass has become highly sought after by cinematographers for its distinctive character, beautiful rendering and organic feel. The lenses are known for their warm, natural colour, pleasing skin tones, smooth fall-off and expressive flare, giving images a sense of depth and personality that can be difficult to achieve with modern optics.

Each lens is professionally rehoused by TLS with a PL mount, consistent 110mm front diameter and matched focus and iris gear positions, allowing the set to work seamlessly with modern cinema cameras, follow-focus systems and matte boxes. The TLS cam-driven focus system provides a smooth, precise and repeatable focus throw, while the custom circular iris helps maintain smooth, rounded bokeh throughout the aperture range.

While the original Canon FD optics provide the look, TLS brings them into the modern production environment.

The Core Set has been carefully selected to provide a compact and versatile focal range for narrative, commercial, documentary and music projects. The result is a set that combines the personality of vintage Canon glass with the reliability and usability expected on a professional film set.
