TLS - CNC Lathe and Milling machine Setter/Operator

Job Role: This is a permanent full time role of 39.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Role Location: Based Barwell, Leicestershire LE9 8BE

Immediate opportunity for a CNC Lathe & Milling machine Setter / Operator to join our innovative precision Lens engineering company.

We are now looking to recruit a CNC Lathe & Milling machine Setter / Operator. Working as part of our small friendly team, you will have responsibility for operating CNC Fanuc Lathe controlled machines and Hurco Milling machines, alongside supporting the workshop team with duties including cleaning, deburring and finishing of components. 

Involved with small batch precision runs in a light engineering environment, you will primarily be working with aluminium and small intricate pieces.  You will be an integral part of the TLS team in our overall lens build as your parts come into action. Together we support our commitment to ensure that we inspire through innovation, passion and quality.

Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment on Hurco milling machines with 3 and 4 axis machining and Fanuc controlled lathes, 2 axis with live tooling, C and Y axis is required, with experience of setting/programming an advantage.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Run CNC lathe and milling machines and to maintain high quality components
  • Support the workshop operations with running, checking, cleaning and deburring of parts
  • Ensuring standards of health and safety are maintained in all areas of work, including following safety procedures when operating machinery and tools
  • Working alongside skilled engineers, learning all areas of the business – specifically running the machines and maintaining high quality standards in production
  • Maintaining accurate records and completing administrative tasks 
  • Working as part of a team to ensure adequate cover is available at all times.

Role requirements:

  • 3 years CNC experience and exposure to both milling and turning
  • Experience of Hurco milling machines with 3 and 4 axis machining, Fanuc controlled lathes, 2 axis with live tooling, C and Y axis
  • Experience of setting/programming lathes and milling machines an advantage
  • Good eye for detail, neat and tidy, good housekeeping
  • Able to be a team player and work independently
  • Ability to work in a busy environment within a varied role
  • Good communication skills
  • Willing to take additional training and activities to develop skills and knowledge
  • Flexibility to perform ad-hoc duties expected of the role.

TLS - Graduate Researcher Opportunity

Job Role: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract. 39.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Role Location: Hybrid Working – Remote & Barwell, Leicestershire, LE9 8BE

This is a 12 month fixed term employed contract role where you will be responsible for conducting market research around our new and existing markets and product ranges.  This will involve investigating regions where we currently sell, looking into new markets and potential new ranges of our rehoused lenses. Alongside this you will be conducting market research looking at new product/technology research, as well as production workflow, consumer demand and market trends.

For this, you will be a strong communicator with a natural ability to build relationships and engage with people, interviewing effectively and report writing.  A second language such as Hindi or Spanish would be a strong advantage.  

A proven analytical approach with research experience of using research databases, such as LexisNexis will enable you to get to grips with our business dynamics.  You will be able to develop your understanding and appreciation of applying your theoretical knowledge, data analysis and interpretation, as well as your communication, networking and commercial exposure.

Although not a necessity, a passion and general interest in photography, cinematography and the filming industry will allow you to immerse yourself in the company’s forward-thinking lens innovation. 

Experience / Person specification:

  • Degree qualified ideally with an MBA
  • Sales and marketing appreciation 
  • Research experience with experience of using research databases such as LexisNexis
  • Highly analytical
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to produce reports on research conducted
  • Experience of working in a commercial research environment an advantage
  • A second language such as Hindi or Spanish desirable 
  • A passion and interest in the photography, cinematography and the filming industry an advantage.

TLS - Business Development Lead

We are looking for a Business Development professional with solid experience within the cinematography industry, ideally towards the materials acquisition side, to join our respected company at the forefront of lens technology.

Being recognised worldwide for lens innovation, we are looking for a proactive committed individual from a background of low volume, high value products in a global relationship-based sales operation to focus on the business and relationship development including our brand presence within our UK and international markets.

You will be responsible for actively engaging with new and existing clients in the UK and overseas to create sales opportunities as well as working alongside our market research to identify further potential markets and challenges.   Additionally, you will be involved in developing relationships with key players within our industry such as camera and lens manufacturers, academic institutions, as well as promoting our ‘expert network’ to debate and share industry insights.  

Cultivating strategic partnerships and alliances with industry stakeholders, influencers, and media outlets, you will take the lead of the company’s activities to re-enforce our brand presence with technically informative and engaging marketing material. 

Strong communication and presentation skills, with ideally a second language of Hindi or Spanish, will stand you in good stead to support the development of our services across the global markets, including the India and Latin America film industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage with existing customers to create sales leads and new project opportunities
  • Identify and engage with new customers in both existing and new geographies to create sales opportunities 
  • Facilitate the creation of an “expert network” to debate and share industry insights
  • Develop relationships with key industry players including camera and lens manufacturers
  • Develop relationships/ engagement opportunities with the UK cinematography universities 
  • Maintain ongoing competitor intelligence
  • Manage the trade show programme, TLS exposure and engagement opportunities
  • Transform technical information into engaging marketing material 
  • Develop and maintain the TLS brand, ensuring consistency across all marketing
  • Work alongside market research to identify new market opportunities and challenges 
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships and alliances with industry stakeholders, influencers, and media outlets
  • Encourage partners to the Glass House and create a "rich" visitor environment
  • Identify opportunities for co-marketing initiatives and collaboration  
  • Engage with, and influence where relevant, the marketing of TLS 
  • Adjust TLS marketing strategy in line with specific geographical locations/target markets 

Experience / Person Specification:

  • Relevant knowledge within the cinematography industry is a must, ideally towards the materials acquisition side
  • 5 years’ experience of business development, industry engagement, brand and marketing initiatives
  • 5 years’ experience in a low volume high value product role for a global relationship-based sales operation a distinct advantage
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, ideally with a second language of Hindi or Spanish 
  • Ability to accurately take on information, particularly from a technical perspective
  • Willingness and ability to attend international tradeshows and other marketing opportunities
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Committed to the development of the company and themselves.
